In the 1880 census, Ambrose and Susan are enumerated next door his son William and his family and what appears to be Susan Shiflett's brother on the other side. In Jeremiah Shiflett's household is a 50-year-old widow named Lucinda Dollar who is reported as Jeremiah's mother. Her surname is married Dollar because she married Ambrose Dollar's widowed father Ambrose in 1864.
