Gatlin, Minta W F 5 Dau TX TN TN [b abt 1875, cf Emma only 4mos old in 1870]
In 1880 Arena (Irene) is the oldest child still in the household of her widowed father. The ages reported here are a good example of how unfocused people were in those days on the data specifics of years and ages.
Ages of everyone here are off compared to 1870. Edward has aged only 5 years since 1860, Arena only 6. Emma was 4 mos old in 1870, yet here is reported to be only 5 years old. And though Edward was already a widower in 1870, now he has another daughter born since the 1870 census, according to her age here, in about 1875. This must mean Edward was married and widowed a second time since the 1870 census.
Irene married Andrew Jackson Wagnon about 1888 or 1889. From data in the 1910 census it appears they moved to Chickasaw Nation of Indian Territory some time after 1896, about the when Eddie was born in Texas.
