Notes
- The relationship of Roger Tripp to other members of Beatrice Weast Terry's family was initially puzzling. In the obituary of Kenneth Paul Terry, he is listed as a brother, but with another name in parentheses (Rama Allen Terry). The latter name indicates he was the son of Rama Wall Terry, Kenneth's father and their mother Beatrice's first husband. Records and information under the two names overlap. It appeared that at some point Rama Allen Terry changed his name to Roger Tripp.
Under the name Roger Trip, I found similar family names as originally appeared in his brother Kenneth's obituary. Rama/Roger died a few weeks before his brother Kenneth Terry. In Roger's obituary, an additional brother and sister are reported, Shaney Matthews and Alan Tripp. No reference is made to a father named Tripp and Merle Lebbs, his mother's last husband, is reported as his father.
"I can tie Roger L. Tripp in Phoenix in the Phoenix 1951 city directory to Arnold L. [Tripp] and Gladys Ione Sorter, who had a son Alan Lester Tripp on May 18, 1938 in Phoenix. Maybe Arnold and Gladys took in Rama W. Terry and adopted him after the Terrys divorced and changed his name to Roger Lee Tripp."
-- Linda Vixie, Ancestry Messaging to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 14 January 2015
Linda Vixie, another Terry-Tripp researcher, was helpful in turning up details and records related to this. It turns out that Rama Allen Terry was at some point adopted by Arnold Laban Tripp and his second wife Gladys Ione Sorter. Arnold and Gladys married about 1934 or a little earlier. In the 1930 census, Arnold was still with his first wife Irene Brotherton in Los Angeles.
But the 1940 census records Gladys as Arnold's wife in Phoenix and reports that in 1935 Arnold and Gladys were together in the same location. So they were married some time after the 1930 census before 1935. In 1935, Rama Allen Terry would have been about 4 years old.
No divorce record has been found for Arnold and Irene.
Rama/Roger's parents were enumerated in Phoenix, Arizona, for the 1940 census, with Roger's two older brothers in the home.

Rama Allen Terry was born 17 April 1931. All the records on him and his family in that period of time are in Phoenix, Arizona, so it is assumed he was born in Phoenix. No birth record has been found, however. One genealogy reports he was born in Rama's hometown of Marlow, Oklahoma, but provides no documentation. This is not likely, since Rama and Beatrice are l;living in Phoenix a few months before Roger's birth and afterwards, and have not been documented away from that area in the 1930s.
Other surname brothers appear in Kenneth's obituary also, Thomas Terranova and Daniel Wood. Linda Vixie, working with me on this branch of my family, was able to make contact with some members of the family, one of whom clarified that these children were adopted out like Roger Tripp after Berniece and Rama divorced. Beatrice was buried in a double grave with her second husband Merle Lebbs. I have found records for Beatrice and Merle Lebbs, also mentioned in Kenneth's and Roger's obituaries.
Kenneth Paul Terry of Farmington passed away Dec. 11, 2010.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, Martin Paul Terry; his father, Rama Terry; his mother, Beatrice Lebbs;
his brothers, Bill Terry Sr., Roger Tripp (Rama Allen Terry) and Daniel Wood;
and nephews, Michael Terry and the Rev. Bill Terry Jr.

A Colorado marriage license reports that Roger married Roxanna Ferguson in April 1957 in Colorado Springs.
Colorado Marriage licenses
Roger Tripp of Phoenix, Arizona & Roxana Ferguson of Colorado Springs CO
Marriage 1 April 1957, Colorado Springs, El Paso Co CO
Only 5 months later, Roger married Barbara Cleburn Sullivan. This is strange, since Colorado at that time had a 6 month waiting period for a divorce to become valid.
"I wonder what happened between Roger and Roxana. The court record office claimed not to find a divorce file, and Colorado did have then a sixth-month waiting period after a divorce was declared in court for it to be finalized. But maybe an annulment would be recorded somewhere else?"

There is a marriage license on file for Barbara Tripp dated 14 May 1960. But it does not appear to have been executed. The ceremony part of it is still empty.This document authorizes the marriage of Barbara Togna Lorene Tripp to Julius Nemeth, both of Barberton, Ohio. They both give the same residence address, indicating they were already living together. This document reports that Barbara has been divorced twice. We would expect the most recent of those to be a divorce from Roger Tripp, since that is her last married name. However, we have a report from her daughter that she had been married twice before marrying Roger.
Barbara's previous names of Togna and Lorene would also appear to be married names, since her maiden name was Cleburn. This may indicate that the document is wrong in stating that she was twice divorced. This is also indicated in the alternative name given with the index for this record, Barbara Cleburn.
In May 1959, Roger married Ida Crowder. No divorce record has been found for Roger's marriage to either Roxanna or Barbara. Roger and his wife Ida Crowder were mentioned as survivors in his mother's obituary in 1995. They were living in Phoenix, Arizona, at that time.
"Beatrice A. Lebbs, 83, of Krebs, died Saturday [11 March 1995] at a local nursing home.... Survivors include her husband, Merle, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill Sr. and Helen Terry of Beatty, Nev., Kenneth and Helen Terry of Farmington, N.M., and Roger and Ida Tripp of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Thelma Matthews of Loch Lomond, Calif.; a sister, Jettie Potter of Wewoka."
