Wilma "Jeannie" Whitfield, 64, died Thursday, Aug. 19 in St. Anthony's Hospital in Weatherford, Okla.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford, Okla. with Rondal Kilgore officiating. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28 at Highlands Cemetery in Durant, Okla. under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Mrs. Whitfield was born to Clarence and Lovellia (Harmon) Jenkins on Dec. 30, 1939. She was raised and attended school in Borger, graduating from Borger High School in 195[8]. She married Gene Whitfield on Jan. 24, 1958. They moved to Weatherford, Okla. where she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University earning her Masters in 1968. She worked at the university in the financial aid office for 26 years, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed volunteer work, church, gardening, and antiques.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Whitfield of the home; her mother, Lovellia Jenkins of Borger; two sons, Steve Whitfield and Todd Whitfield, both of McKinney; one daughter, Carman Massey of Durant, Okla.; one brother, Jerry Jenkins of Wheeler; one sister, Jackie Hinds of Borger; and five grandchildren, Heath, Keisha, and Tori Whitfield and Christina and Madison Massey.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
