Married Nancy Ann JENKINS

  • "My name is Bruce Harrington.  I married Sally Stauch, the daugher of Jack Stauch and Bess Burrell.  Her dad was Oliver Calhoon Burrell and that linage goes back to Jean-Baptist Elzeard Burel, whom I see you have documented somewhat on Geneanet.  I have a scanned copy of a book about the Burel ancestry and decendents that I got from Bess before she died last year.  (She and Jack lived with us in Houston during their last few years.)  It was compiled by Wylodean Burrell Edwards in the late 1980's."

Death Mar. 11, 1920 Lexington, Holmes County. Mississippi

Samuel Jefferson Burrell was born on February 3, 1847, to John and Mary Ann Jenkins Burrell in Gwinnett County, Georgia. At the age of 15, he enlisted for service to the Confederate States of America as a private. He served in Company A "Gwinnett Beauregaurds", 42nd Infantry, Georgia Regiment. He was captured during the seige of Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 4, 1863. He was paroled there on July 7, 1863.

He eventually moved with most of his family to Mississippi, most likely because of a land grant.

After the Civil War, he married Annie Eliza "Analiza" Allen, and they had 5 children: Jack Luther, James Ephraim, Cicero Franklin, Ida Elizabeth, and Samuel Conny. Analiza died in 1884.

Sometime after 1885, Samuel married again, to Nancy Ann Jenkins. They had 12 children: Mary Eliza, Sicily, Oliver Calhoun, Phallie, Hattie, Katie Lee, Thomas Jefferson Smith, Minerva Marie, Fanny Cornelia, Georgia Mae, John Henry Thaddeus, and Joe.

He died on March 11, 1920 in Lexington, Mississippi.
