  The Ancestry.com transcription of this census interprets Pearl's age as 27, which was her reported age in 1920!  The age was first written as 31 or 37, then marked through and corrected in small, squeezed numbers above it.  The horizontal line could be the top of the original 7, or the bottom of the corrected 2 of 27!  The first digit of the new number is somewhat faded, but it might be seen as a 2.  The squiggly top part that is somewhat faded, however, could be a 3.  At any rate the age of 37 matches her reported birth and ages in other records.
