  In the 1920 census Orin is given the surname of his stepfather, and designated as a son rather than a stepson.  There are two younger children in the Brown household in 1930 with the surname Hudson, Daniel and Otto,.but Oran is out of the Brown household by 1930.

  Oran's WWI draft registraton reports hss wife as Mattie Gertrude Hudson, providing his wife's middle name.  His name was changed here, either formally or informally.  His birth certificate clearly has Oran Scott Hudson.  His marriage record above has Oran.  He was enumerated in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses as Oran or Orin.  But in 1940, he signed himself and the name was printed as Owen Scott Hudson.
  
  He also reported his birthplace as Gentryville, Indiana, whereas his birth certificate reports the palce as Pigeon.  Gentryville is the nearest town to the unicorportead community of Pigeon where he was born at home.
