In 1920, Homer's widowed father Joe (Toliver Jorile) has married widow Mollie Stroud Williams Lane, and we find Homer as a 12 year old at home with one of his older sisters Minnie.

In 1930 at age 23, Homer is working the family farm just outside Marlow, Oklahoma, with his father. He is the oldest child in the home, after his mother and step mother have passed away. Stepmother twice-widowed Maggie (Crenshaw Welch) has married his father Toliver Jorile, and joined her household of four Welch children to theirs.
His obituary in the Marlow newspaper reports that during WWII, Homer served in the Air Force. The Marlow Cemetery registry online says he was a corporal in the US Army. Later he was a commander and chaplain of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Marlow. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Homer died in a hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral services were held on 4 January 1989 at the Church of Christ in Marlow, Oklahoma, with Wayne Price officiating. Interment was in the Marlow Cemetery, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home, Marlow.
