He had been sick some time before he died. An autopsy discovered cancer and it is presumed that was the cause of death.

A Russell McSwain, age 21, is a boarder in the household of John and Julia Cook 4 houses down from Wiley and his siblings. It is not clearwhere this Russell came from or how he is kin to them. Like the others he was born in Arkansas, and both his parents were born in North Carolina. I have information on this Russell and his family from later records, also, but have been unable (as of September 2007) to find where they fit with the rest of the McSwains in North Carolina or Arkansas. This Russell is listed in later censuses as Russell a McSwain, andhad a son named Russell also.
In 1910, Wiley Carew is married to Susie Lowery. The L in here entrySusie L appears to stand for her maiden name, since we know her middle name was Frances. Carew's brother Matt is still living with the family. Both he and Carew are working in farm labor for other farms.
