Notes

  • When I found out William E Jack Porter's full name, I found I had hisfamily already in the genealogy, but had lacked the information to identify him.  He had married Hazel Bob McSwain.  All I had previously known was that her married name was Porter.

In Hazel Bob's obituary in February 2008, I learned her husband's full name, and was then able to connect him to his father, although I have not been able to find out who his mother was.  She died before he was 6 years old.  The various names of Hazel Bob's husband show up in the two censuses of 1920 and 1930, enabling us to confirm that this is his family.

The family tie is further confirmed in our previous knowledge that the second wife of William E's stepmother Maggie McSwain is Hazel Bob'saunt.  Maggie was a daughter of P K McSwain, and Hazel Bob's father Robert Perry was her brother.

William or Jack first appears in the 1920 census with his widowed father and older sister in Ethel, Arkansas.
