Notes

• Bethel's line of Greens is unrelated to the Green lineage of Jackson Green, who married Clarinda Barnett, and aunt of Bethel's wife Frances Jane Barnett.  There are four, perhaps five, unrelated Green lineages in this genealogy that are somehow intermarried to others through the main lineages I have reconstructed:  Green-Gregory in Texas-Oklahoma and McSwain-Dumond in North Carolina-Arkansas.

  The Is and Js of this enumerator are hard to distinguish.  Some genealogies give the names of the parents here as Thomas J Green and Nancy J Easely.  The initials are interpreted by Ancestry.com as Thomas J and Nancy I R.  (Only this census has the additional R initial for Nancy.)  The youngest son here is transcribed as Thomas I, although the middle initial looks the same as the father's.  In 1870, this child is definitely Thomas J, so it appears the middle initial for father and son are both J.

  Ages vary considerably on most of the people in this household.  For instance, Bethel has aged only 7 years, his father only 5.     Thomas, or T J, is reported as only 9 in 1870 but he was already 1 in 1860.
  
  From census ages it is impossible to tell just when Bethel was born.  His birth data by age varies from 1856 to 1866.  I am reporting birth according to the age in the 1860 the census, which is more likely to be correct.  He had to be born some time before 1860 to be enumerated in that census!

  Here Bethel is reported as born in March 1866, even though we have seen that he was enumerated in the 1860 census as 4 years old.  Perhaps he actually reported age as 44, but the enumerator wrote it down wrong.  Note also that Bethel's parents are both reported as born in Illinois, even though the censuses of 1860 and 1870 showed his father born in Tennessee and his mother in Mississippi.

  [One source h as one child listed as Lola Pearl.  Nadene also found an obituary for Lola Pearl (Green) Collum, resident of Aspermont in Stonewall County, Texas, b Jan, 17, 1902, who died 10 Sep 1974.  The child listed above as Lola or Iola is listed in addition to the child Pearl in the 1910 census for this family.  The name is transcribed by Ancestry as Gala, though transcribed elsewhere as Iola.]
