"Mineola Christian Battles (1890 - 1972) was my maternal grandmother. Her father was Joseph Benjamin Christian and his father (my second great grandfather) was Benjamin Franklin Christian (1817 - 1870)."
-- Loyd Keith Farris, Ancestry Messaging to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 31 December 2015
Further discusosin by email continued with Keith over the discrepancy of the name of the fatehr of Minnie's father Jo0seph Benjamin Christian, whose father was known to the Jenkins family as Joseph Benjamin Christian Sr. One or two Christian genealogies report a Benjamin Franklin Christian as the father of J B Sr. One has J S Jr's father as Benjamin Franklin Christian.
The dates reported there for that Ben Franklin Jr are the same dates others report for Joseph Benjamin Christian Sr. It appears those genealogies got the grandfather's name confused with the father's name. Ketih wrote again in February 2017 with some updated information from his mother.
"Joseph Benjamin Christian, Jr. and his wife Catherine [Smith] are buried in the Ashland Cemetery in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. The Findagrave website has a photo of their headstone and biographies. My mother, Barbara Lucille Battles (1920), was Mineola Christian Battles' daughter and before she passed in 2014 [2015] she was able to recall her grandfather's name as 'Joe B.'"

Minnie married Choctaw Indian Geoerge Washington Battles in 1970, just a few days before the State of Okolahoma was formed in November.
Oklahoma and Indian Territory, Marriage, Citizenship and Census Records, 1841-1927
Mr George Battles, Age 20
Birth Date abt 1887
Spouse Minnie Christian, Age 16
Birth Date abt 1891
Residence of both Ashland, Indian Territory
Application 17 Oct 1907
License issued and marriage performed 20 Oct 1907 Ashland, Central District, Indian Territory
Ceremony by P C Sizemore, Minister of the Gospel
Filed 25 October 1907, Marriage book page 65
The Central District covered the Creek and Seminole Nations. But Ashland was in the Choctaw Nation, which was under the Southern District. It is not clear why they would have got a license in Central District to be married in another jurisdiction. Their marriage occurred less than one month before the Indian nations and Oklahoma Territory were merged in the establishment of the State of Oklahoma.
But the 1910 census for her family reports that Mineola was still in the home of her parents, reported as Single, and age 18. Yet their marriage certificate indicates they married George Battle in 1907 at age 16.

It is interesting that in the 1940 census, all the Battles family members were reproted as White, while in 1930 they had been Indian. We find this with many Indian families in the Chickasaw, Choctaw and Creek Nations. They gradually became part of the general population stream as "White."
