In the 1870 census, Susan appears with her mother Ellen and two sisters Bell (Lucy Belle) and Ameila (Amelia Florence) in the household of Ellen's second husband Stephen Winter.  Soem genealogies report Ellen's first husband as Granville Kirkpatrick.  All the records for them indicate his name was Fitzpatrick.

These three Fitzpatrick sisters are reported with their stepfather's nmae here.  In the 1850 census their family was enumerted in Arkansas under the spelling Fitchpatrick.

Lucy Conrad matches her name in the 1880 census and her age in 1870 and 1880.  Amelia Garlinghouse matches the 1870 record for Ameila Winter (Fitzpatrick).  But the oldest sister in mentioned in the 1870 census was named Susan, and reported as 23 years old, or born about 1947.  Laura Davenporrt's birth state matches Susan Winter (Fitzpatrick) in 1870, but the birth year is 1854, 7 years younger.

Family genealogies and other records clarify that Laura and Susan are two different sisters of Ameila and Lucy (Louise).  In 1850, Mary S (Susan) was reported as age 6, making her born in about 1854, matching Laura in the 1910 census.  But Laura, born about 1854 according to her 1910 age, was reported only 1 year old in 1850, or born about 1849!.  Ages are often incorrect in census for various reasons.  Laura was probably already married by the 1870 census, but Susan was not.  Here is the 1850 census with all the children through Laura.  A family source reports that Laura's birth date was 4 September 1848.
