Notes

  • ---------------------
Lois Murphy Padgett of Ethel, Arkansas, born December 24, 1936, peacefully left this walk for her heavenly home on November 14, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. She was surrounded by her family and her devoted husband of 61 years.

Lois leaves behind her husband, James "Hot" Padgett, and four children, James Padgett (Robin), Carolyn Padgett Knowlton (Ron), Michael Padgett, and Jeff Padgett (Kim), all of Ethel. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her 14 grandchildren: Lance (Donna) Padgett, Ashlee Padgett Reynolds (Michael); Kristy Knowlton Sellers (Jim), Melissa Knowlton Ruffin (Ben); Sara Padgett Heathcott (Adam) and Seth Padgett and Jessica Padgett; Hannah and Jesse Padgett; and her 8 great-grandchildren: Sydnee Battle and Kassie Padgett; Gage and Matthew Reynolds; Caroline and Cora Sellers and Noah and Kinley Ruffin.

Lois devoted her life to her family as homemaker, mother, and wife. She was an avid outdoors man and fisherman and spent many happy hours on the deer stand in a search of a big buck or in a turkey blind hoping to bag the biggest turkey she could find. Anyone who knew her knew she was also very competitive so just any old deer or turkey wasn't good enough.....she wanted the biggest! She felt the same way about her fishing and we lovingly nick-named her "Shrimp-boat Sally" when she and Daddy went crappie fishing because of the many poles she fished at one time. She was a member of Belleview Baptist Church.

Visitation will be November 16 from 4-6 p.m. at Essex Funeral Home in DeWitt. Lois' celebration service will be held at Belleview Baptist Church in Ethel at 1 p.m. on November 17. Burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home.
