  "I have no date of death for Samantha Melvina. Supposedly she ended up in a California nursing home and died there, after living most of her life in Hamilton, Alabama. She must have had a child living out there."

  This genealogy also reports Samantha's mother's name as McCuthen (normally spelled McCutheon).  This has been mentioned in places, but no documentatoin of this name has been found.  Tracy Crumly also reports on the appearance of this name in some references.
  
  "I wish we knew more about the Hamiltons she came from. My mom always said her name was Jane McCutcheon, and I see others listing that as her name but I don't know where that came from."
