This 1870 census report is puzzliing, since Civil War Regiment records report William J Green died in aprison camp in Illinois in 1865.  In the list of Green surnamed enlistees, we find tow of his father Tyree Green's brothers, James M Green and Thomas Bention Green.  All these Greens joined the army on the same day.  It appears thay are all related, though the identities of some of them do not match known members of this Green family.

I suspect that the Benton A Green was actually Thomas Bention.  I suspect that there was a confusion over the name Thomas Benton, and the middle name got entered as another person.  This list notes that there is no further record on that name.

The Regimanet record reports that William was buried in the City Cemetery of Chicago.  This cemetery, where WIlliam was originally buried, was closed and reburials began in 1859.  Burials continued there throiugh the Civil War, even as reburials were being conducted, and the last burials were in 1866.

    ------------------------
Chicago City Cemetery was located in at the south end of what is now Lincoln Park. The first burials were in 1843, and at its peak, had 20,000 burials. City residents did not like the cemetery location, which was on low land, close to the lake, thinking it contaminated water supply and aided the spread of diseases such as cholera.  In 1859, the city stopped selling lots at the cemetery and reinterments began in the newly-opened Rosehill Cemetery. The last burials at City were in 1866.
