  Since Susan is entered at the end of the list of children, it makes it seem that Susan is the wife of William Jr.
  
  The eight-year gap between Martha Jane and Benjamin would seem to indicate that William and Martha Jane are the children of Alice Kirk, who was married to William in 1816, according to a Giles County, Virginia, marriage record.
  
  The rest of the children through Helen Virginia would be the children of Betsey Reeves.  Since the youngest child is reported as age 2, and so born about 1848, it appears that Betsey Reeves died about 1849 or early 1850.  William married Anfield Gregory in 1852.

  A couple of genealogies report that David and Minerva married 4 January 1883 Bethel, Bath County, Kentucky.  No record has been found.  But that date and polace are consistent with the 1900 census report that they had been married 17 years and were still living in Bath County.

  On her death certificate, as well as her marriage record, the person whose name was spelled Manerva in the 1860 census was reported as Minerva, using the standard spelling.  We have used this standard spelling of her name found on her death certificate.
