    Gregory Rites Held April 2 [1966]

    Eli Gregory, son of the late Jessee [sic] Gregory and Elizabeth Foster Gregory, died April 2 at the age of 71.  He was born in Rowan County October 10, 1894.

    He is survived by his wife Ada Smedley and children:  Jessee [sic] Denton Gregory, Morehead, Ky, Clifton Gregory, Shelby, Ohio, Joe Gregory, Bruswick, Ga, Mrs Hazel Rich, Eustis, Fla, Mrs Nannie Wright, Dayton, Ohio,  He is also survived by one sister, Mrs Sarah Phillips of Clearfield, and 18 grandchildren, and 13 Great grandchildren.

    He was a member of [the] Baptist Church.

    Funeral services were conducted April 2 at the Clearfiled Tabernacle with Rev James Murphy and Rev Scott Griffith officiating.  Burial was in the Lower Lick Fork Cemetery.

    Arrangements wre handled by Lance Funeral Home.

    "This is in a box of clippings that I have. They belonged to my grandfather, Ivan Gregory, and before him, his parents, Vada Hardin Gregory and Truby Gregory. Eli was Truby's Uncle. Any handwritten notes were made Vada. - Rowan County News, April 1966"

    Find a Grave has no cmetery listed in Rowan County named Lower Lick Fork or any similar name.  Find a Grave reportes his grave is in the Clearfield Cemetery.  Clearfield Cemetery is reported by Find a Grave as being in Morehead.  His funeral was at Clearfield and the obituary states that his sister was living in Clearfield.  Clearfield is an unincorporated community in Rowan County, but has its own post office.  Clearfield is on Kentucky Route 519 1.5 south of Morehead.
