  The 1909 Houston City Directory was the first issue in which Edward was reported.  He and his brother were check clerks at the Rice Hotel.  Their father was reported as a bartender, which shows up as his occuption in other records later.  The residence address of the sons indicates they are still living in their parents' home.  This directory did not report wives in the household, so their mother Eliza Jane is not reported.
