Notes
- Harriet died not long before the 1850 census, soon after the birth of her fourth child, James Wilson Carson on February 1850. The 1850 census reports R C Carson with 4 children in the household. The oldest is Ella (Ellen) at age 7. The youngest is James at 3 months. However, the census date is 2 November, and his grave tells us James died on 9 July. He is included in the enumeration, even though has already died, because the actual census date in 1850 was 1 June.
