- Maggie Philpot was born about 1903. The 1910 census reports her birth place as Indian Territory. This alerts us to a short but important episode in the family's timeline. Maggie's father Samuel died in Chickasaw Nation, in November of the year she was born. Some of the famliy stayed there, but Sam's wife Mariah (Dexter) retrurned to their home area, with many of the children.
Maggie's older brother Ward T Philpot is reported as the Head of the household even though their mother is in the home. Several other siblings, including their 32-year-old sister Saphronia, are in the home.
