Reuben Hamrick Green was born on August 25, 1828, in Rutherford County, North Carolina, his father, James Moore Green, was 25 and his mother, Narcissus Hamrick, was 22. He married Judy Judith McSwain on January 15, 1846, in North Carolina. They had eight children in 25 years. He died on November 23, 1907, in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, having lived a long life of 79 years, and was buried there.
