Notes

  • In the 1850 census, we find Elizabeth living in the household of Thomas Carder and his wife Nancy Terry, who is the sister of Elizabeth's father George Terry.  George's wife had died at some time before this census.  George is living in the household of his parents Lewis and Constance Terry who are 80 and 85 at that time.  With George are his two younger daughters, Nancy age 13 and Mary Ann age 8.  Lewis and George live next door to the Carders where Elizabeth Terry is living.

In 1860, Jane Elizabeth is married to Tilman R Harkins, and living in Cherokee County, North Carolina.  The famly name is spelled Hawkins by the enumerator.
