Thomas Earl Jones died at the age of 24 in what appeared to be adrowning, though his boating companion Glen Horton was stabbed todeath.  A newspaper (unidentified in clipping I read) reports that hisbody was found in Hurricane Bayou of the White River Chute of theArkansas River near Ethel, Arkansas County, Arkansas.  Thomas Earl wasburied in a family cemetery in Ethel, according to the newspaperstory.

Here is a short exerpt of the story:
"The body of Thomas Earl Jones, 24, was found in the White River Chutelast Friday about three quarters of a mile below the head of HurricaneBayou. ... No marks of violence could be detected on the body, whichwas thoroughly examined by a coroner's jury. ...The Jones boy wasburied Friday night in a family cemetery near Ethel."

This story says the body was found on Friday and buried that night.  Ithought that was a short time to get the body out of the river, get itinto town, perform the autopsy, have the coroner's inquest, and finishthe legal investigation the same calendar day.  However, I found thatthe Arkansas Death Index reports his date of death as 22 January 1938. This date was a Saturday.  I will report the official date of deathhere.
