"According to Ancestry, you shared John Evan Chapel's Death Certificate on 6 July 2015.  I am curious how you know John?  At the time of his death he was married to my great-aunt Alice Randolph."

"Thanks for contacting me. John Evan Chapel is in my genealogy because his mother, Mary Lydie Jenkins, was my grandfather's sister.  My grandfather was Joseph Asa Jenkins.  From John Chapel in my tree you can easily navigate to him to see Mary's and JA's Jenkins family in Cass County, Texas.  My father was Orville Lee Jenkins, son of Joseph Asa Jenkins and Julia Virginia (Jennie) Terry."

    -------------------
I researched John Evan [Chapel] quite a bit.  He had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Before he married my great-aunt Alice, he was married to Nellie Hustead in 1919.  It didn't last long as Nell died from a ... gunshot to the liver in 1920. ...

Not sure how he [John Evan Chapel] met Alice.  He was quite the character and well known in gambling circles in Houston.  They lived in a very fashionable area. His final years were very puzzling. My father worked for John before he died, then in the 1940's my dad worked for the Sam Maceo at his club in Galveston, the Balinese Room.

"John Evan was a bit of an enigma.  He and Alice owned a very large home, which at the time, was in the exclusive Montrose area in Houston JE bought during the Great Depression. However, in the years before he died, he lived at other addresses in downtown Houston, some probably hotels.  Perhaps gambling sites.  Even his Death Certificate address was not Hawthorne.  He was a heavy drinker and would awake in the middle of the night to have a few.  After he died, Alice never worked and continued to live at the Hawthorne address.  I found a newspaper article written about him and his fine gambling integrity.  Famous individuals like Lester Goodson, Pontiac dealer, attended his funeral."
