Notes

  • Leland Lafayette's second name was pronounced La-Fate.  He went byFait, and this is the name by which I have heard our Green familyrefer to him.  There were other people named Fait Green in Oklahoma, unrelated to this family of Greens.  Fait's gravestone has his namesimply as Fait Green.

1930 Federal Census, Stephens County, Oklahoma, 5 April, Marlow Ward2, District 69-17, page 6B, Nabor Ave, Hse #105, Fam #116
Green, Dave Owns $1400 Head M W 47 Married at age 25 OK OK TXCarpenter
Green, Francis H Wife F W 41 Married at age 18 TX TX AL
Green, Lafayette Son M W 18 Single OK OK TX Grocery Clerk

Note that Fayette (Fait) is reported born in Oklahoma.  In 1940 Faitis reported born in Texas, which appears to be an error, nbased onfamily knowledge and the 1930 census.  I have not found the family in1920.  But I note his parents were reported in the 1910 census asliving in Marlow, Oklahoma, where they lived out their lives.

When Fait was in school they lived a few miles from the town ofMarlow.  Faith's second cousin Loretta Gregory Gay reports that Faittold her that when he was in school, he used to ride a horse from theSt York Indian Baptist Church east of town to school in Marlow.Loretta says she and her family used to go with Dave and Fannie togospel singings at that church.
