- My initial informatoin on Johns was a couple of baree details in an undocumented genealogy, which is no longer online. There is some difference over his birth palce. Some suggest Granville County, North Carolina, while others suggest Surrey COunty, Virginia
On compilaiton of sources has birthplace only as Virginia. The date of birth there is 1740, which others report 1742.
