    In 1930 at age 23, Homer is working the family farm just outsideMarlow, Oklahoma, with his father.  He is the oldest child in thehome, after his mother and step mother have passed away.  Stepmothertwice-widowed Maggie (Crenshaw Welch) has married his father ToliverJorile, and merged her household of four Welch children with the Greenfamily.

    His obituary in the Marlow newspaper reports that during WWII, Homerserved in the Air Force.  The Marlow Cemetery registry online says hewas a corporal in the US Army.  Later he was a commander and chaplainof the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Marlow.  He was a member of theChurch of Christ.

    Homer died in a hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Funeral serviceswere held on 4 January 1989 at the Church of Christ in Marlow,Oklahoma, with Wayne Price officiating.  Interment was in the MarlowCemetery, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home,Marlow.

    Homer Green, of 409 N 9th, died Monday, January 2, 1989, in anOklahoma City hospital.  He was 82.

    Service was held at 2 pm Wednesday, Jan 4, in the Church of Christ [inMarlow, Oklahoma] with Wayne Price officiating.  Burial was in theMarlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb FuneralHome [Marlow].

    Born Dec 12, 1906, in Center, Indian Territory, he had lived in Marlowmost of his life.  He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, andserved as past [post?] commander and chaplain of the VFW Chapter 4888,and a member of the Church of Christ.

    Green was married to Dorothy Lowe on Nov 16, 1946, in Marlow.

    Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; a daughter Lou AdaHorning of Marlow; two sons, Joe Green of Marlow and David Green ofLone Grove; four sisters, Pearl Duesman of Duncan, Hollie Hill ofMidland, Texas, Ann Ball of Columbus, Ohio and Minnie Simpson ofWilliamstown, Kentucky; two brothers, Don Green of Marlow and BerleyWelch of Hartsburg, Missouri; and five grandchildren.

    Serving as pallbearers were Edwin Duesman, Fait Green, EverettGregory, James Lowe, Curtis Hutton Jr, and Elvin Thornton.
