The child John in the 1850 census does not appear in the 1860 census with the family, when he should be 10 or 11 years old. This means he must have died before the 1860 census. I found a Mortality schedule listing that would match, but the image of the sheet is not available, so I cannot confirm this is the correct John McSwain. It is in the right county, but there were a lot of McSwains in this county.
