"My father, John William McSwain, was born in Stuggart, AR, in 1919; his father was George (Burton?) McSwain, also called "Slim." He had some brothers and sisters near DeWitt, AR. He was an oil/water well driller, and died in Columbus, Ohio, in 1947-48."

There is a burial records that clopsely matches John.  The birth date of 9 April 1918 is a match for the less specific April 1918 based on his age in the 1920 census.  The burial is in Memphis, where he and his parents had lived.  But the date of death on the grave does not match the date reported by his son James.  James (see quote above) saod his father died died in 1947-48.
