Notes

  • I suspect that Arthur's middle iniital T stands for Toliver, his grandfather Green's name.  But I have not found any documentation at all for his full middle name.

    1900 Federal Census, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, 13 June, Township 15, District 40, Page 6B,  Hse/Fam #126:

Green, Arthur Son M W  Dec 1895 4  Ind Terr GA MS

This census reports that Arthur was born in December 1895.  But what appears to be the WWI registration for this Arthur Green says he was born in February 1895, 10 months earlier.

Some genealogies have reported the death date for a different Arthur Green, usually reported as Arthur W Green, with a different birth date, born 5 June 1894, died Oct 1985, in New Hampshire. Arthur Toliver Green was in Indian Territory, and appeaers to have gone with some of his siblings to California,  The following looks like ther record for our Arthur Toliver Green.  No records between 1919 and this death record have been found.  Other members of his family lived in different California counties.

Death 10 Dec 1927 Alameda County, California, USA

And in fact, the date of death matches his gravestone, which reports the same WWI service unit as the transport record from 1919 above.

His grave has no birth date.  His school record from 1912 reported his birth date as 17 February 1894.  In 1917 on WWI registration he reported the year as 1895.  No later record has been found.  No birth or death certificate has been found.  Being information from directly from the family setting and closer to the time of his birth, this is likely to be the correct date.

His military headstone was set up in February 1930.
