• When we first find George in a census, he is 4 years old int he 1850 census of Cleveland County, North Carolina, the eldest of 2 children of Benjamin (Franklin) and Judith (Green) McSwain.

  George's family were living next door to the family of Patience J Green, whom he later married.  Again in 1880 after they are married, they are still next door, and her mother is shown as the head of the household.  I have not found George's parents, Benjamin Franklin and Judith (Juda/Judea/Judia/Judeah) in the 1870 census.

  W G McSwain, reported here as born in 1879, does not appear with his parents in the 1880 census, which seems to indicate he died before the 1880 census, at one year or less.
  
  In 1910, we find one of George's aunts living with him and his youngest daughter Hattie.  Aunt Candas (Candace?) would probably be a sister of his father Benjamin Franklin McSwain.
