Notes

  • Brian Demoe reports that Julien arrived in New France on 12 September 1665, as a soldier, a member of the Regiment de Carignan, who were deployed in the Iroquois wars.  After his service, instead of returning to France, Julien stayed on.  Brian says he was given a land grant by Monsignor de Laval, Master of Ile d'Orléans, where he established his home at St Jean.

Julien was married twice.  His first wife was Catherine Topsan.  They were married on 2 November 1667 in Québec City.  Catherine had 7 children before she died.
