Notes

  • Brian Demoe reports that Julien arrived in New France on 12 September1665, as a soldier, a member of the Regiment de Carignan, who weredeployed in the Iroquois wars.  After his service, instead ofreturning to France, Julien stayed on.  Brian says he was given a landgrant by Monsignor de Laval, Master of Ile d'Orléans, where heestablished his home at St Jean.

    Julien was married twice.  His first wife was Catherine Topsan.  Theywere married on 2 November 1667 in Québec City.  Catherine had 7children before she died.
