    Thelma was reported twice in the 1940 census.  He was also reported in his mother's household with his brother and sister, in the home of her third husband Rube Ellenberg, whom Josie married in 1938 after the death of Roe Dempsey in 1938.

    Thelma's sister Rosella is reported here as the daughter of Rube Ellenberg.  But note that she is 6 years old, and her mother married Rube only in 1938.  Thelma is reported as a girl here and Elvis is reported as Ellis.

    Note that the Social Security record reports that his residence at the time of death was the town of Colt, Arkansas.  His obituary reports he died at home, at Pine Tree.  Pine Tree is an unincorporated populated place 6.6 miles form Colt.  Cot is the closest town to Pine Tree, and probably where their post office was.

    Mr. Thelmer Dempsey, age 85, of Pine Tree, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at his home.

    Mr. Dempsey was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Ethel, the son of Roe Andrew Dempsey and Josie Benson Dempsey. He lived in St. Francis County most of his life, was a farmer, and was a member of the Pine Tree Baptist Church.

    Mr. Dempsey married Clara Bieber, and she preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by one son, Wayne Dempsey of Forrest City; one daughter, Juanita Kennedy of Colt; one brother, Elvis Dempsey of St. Charles; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Margaret Garrett and Dorothy Barnes.

    Visitation for Mr. Dempsey will be Friday, July 14, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at Stevens Funeral Home at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 15, with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery.

    The obituary says he was to be buried in Forrest Park Cemetery, but I do not find his name or his wife's in the registry for that cemetery.  The obituary records on the Arkansas GenWeb report them in that cemetery, and give the plot number and provide their obits.
