  David's father died in 1914 in a train accident.
  
  "Allie met and married Payne Wilkerson in 1918.  She had two boys, Leroy and Floyd Wilkerson.  They eventually moved from the Oklahoma dust bowl to Watsonville California, and are listed in the 1930 Fed Census (attached).  At that time, Dee is still with his mom, Allie, and Violet had married Joseph Cornett and has a family which includes my mother, Betty Jo.  I don't know where Margurette was, she would have been 19.  Her married name became Podio and she resided in Castroville, not far from Watsonville, until she died about 15 years ago."

  Dee was reported in the 1930 census in the household of his mother and stepfather, Payne Wilkereson.  Dee's sister Violet and her husband Joe Cornett are living in the same household, enumerated with their children as a new family.
