A genealogy reports an exact date of birth for Susan as 20 June 1820. This is the birth date we find on her grave. Yet in 1860 her age is reported as 37, and in 1870 as 47, which would mean she was born in 1823. In 1850 she was reported as age 25. This would yield a birth year of 1825. She is recorded as Susan M in 1850 and 1860 and Melinda in 1870.
