Bowen, Albert 45 M Farmer $1000 Real Estate $235 Personal b TN [b abt 1815]
Bowen, Carroll 25 M Farmer $0 Real Estate $167 Personal b TN [b abt 1835]
Bowen, Caroline 25 F b AL [b abt 1835]
Bowen, Ann 3 F b MS [b abt 1857]
This census indicates that Carroll and Caroline (known as Callie in family sources) married about 1856, and the first child Ann was born in about 1857. Ann is still in the home at age 23 in 1880.
In 1860 the name is clearly Bowen, but in 1870 it is very clearly Boren. In 1880 it is less clear, and could be Borun, as transcribed by Ancestry; Borun is disputed by family genealogists, who prefer Bowen; I have seen no genealogy that comments on Boren in 1870. I have seen genealogy that even has the 1870 census.

Lyddia matches Etta (Luetta) in the 180 census, as our Etta Lou. Note that the census record both her age (at the official census date) and the month in which she was born. The 1900 census reported her birth date as November 1869.
