    Graveside services for Vester Morgan Mixon, 69, of Killenn, Texas withfull military honors were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Mt. GileadCemetery near Vivian. Mixon, died Wednesday in the Fort Hood ArmyHospital following a long illness.

    Burial will be under the direction of the Crawford Funeral Home inKilleen with McGuire Funeral Home in Vivian assisting. Mixon was bornMay 12, 1912 at Bivins, Texas. He was a verteran of World War II andthe Korean Conflict. He retired as an Army Staff Sgt. from Fort Hoodin 1961, following 21 years of active service.

    Survivors include three sons, Vester M. Mixon, Jr. of Whitman, Texas,Marion L. Mixon of Fort Hood, Texas, and Arvil Ray Mixon of Fort Polk;four daughters, Mrs. Cynthia A. Bean of Newland, NC, Mrs. Beverly J.Hill of Berleson, Texas, Mrs. Sandra K. Scott of Hosston, LA andMelinda F. Kethchum of Addis, and two brothers, Freddie Mixon ofKilgore, Texas and Frankie Mixon of Odessa, Texas and four sisters,Elizabeth Maddox of Paradis, Evelyn Whatley of Linden, Texas, andCarrie McChaney and Virginia Copeland both of Kilgore, Texas.
