Notes

  • In the 1880 census, Mary Ann was reported as 5 years old.  Her familyBible reports her birth date as 1 August 1874.

Birthdates of parents in this 1880 census are uncertain, because theentries are inconsistent.  For the children, most have only theindividual's birth state, and no separate entry in the field forMother or Father's state of birth.  So it seems we are to assume thestates reported in their parents' individual records.

But on others it seems the enumerator followed the common practice ofdrawing down the last entered state in that same column. like a ditto. And on a couple of the parents, not all fields are fulfilled, whichwe usually take to mean the information was not known.
