His death certificate says he died by accdiental drowning while working in rural Maricopa County near Buckeye and Perryville. Further details are not clear. The fact that he and his wife died together does not sound like he was at work. His industry is reported as Farm and his occupation as Laborer. And the accident is reported to have occurred at 7:30 PM. Note also that Betty Jo was less than one year old.

His gravestone is a simple ground stone (footstone) with only the name Harvey Welch. For some time the FAG memorial did not have and dates. They were later added later, after I submitted them from his death certificate.
