Notes
- The 1900 census reports to us that Agnes was born in Texas. Her family is enumerated in the Terry home area of Murray County, Georgia. Agnes is reported born in Texas Mar 1890. An interesting twist to this is that most Terry genealogies of this family that I have seen report that Agnes was born in Murray County, not Texas. But I have not seen an explanation of the report of birth in Murray County.
It seems likely to me that her parents did, in fact, move to Texas, along with many others of this same Terry clan, in the period of 1875 to 1890. See more discussion below. Richard Bates, in his Bates-Terry genealogy, does report her birth as occurring in Texas, but provides no comment or further details.

The birth of Agnes in Texas indicates that Joe and Martha moved to Texas for a while then moved back to Georgia. This matches the record for Joe's brother Thomas Duncan Terry, who was married in 1880 McLennan County, Texas. Thomas Duncan was enumerated that same year with his wife Mattie (Martha Wall) that year and their first child, Jennie (Julia Virgina) was born there in December 1880. Other Terrys in this family were farther south in Brazos County in this same era.
We can tell from the report of Aurelia's birth in August 1886 that Joe and Martha moved to Texas after August 1886. They moved back to Georgia sometime after Agnes' birth in March 1890. Due to the loss of the 1890 census records in a fire, the time of their presence in Texas in 1890 cannot be determined more accurately.
I have found no entry for Agnes or her parents for 1910. In 1920, they are in Murray County. Note that Agnes' mother Martha is here named Ned. This is the first historical record I have seen that gives us what is apparently her nickname. I had first encountered this name for her in the 1930 census, which I found early on in my Terry research.

Note the change in birth state for Agnes. Here the enumerator records Georgia as for her brothers. We are told in several Terry genealogies that Agnes married William Dave (David?) Beavers. The families in the area, however, are recorded in the census as named Beaver. In the 19290 census, next door to Joe's family I find is a George Beaver, age 48, born in Georgia. There are several more families named Beaver on this page and the next. Some are born in North Carolina and some in Georgia.
A genealogy shows a daughter named Corise Oneida as born in 1912 and dying 1915. We see from the 1920 census that Lillian was born about 1904-5. The census is in January, so she was likely born in 1904. (I have noticed that sometimes this family reports age as rounded up for a birthday later that year after the census date.) This enables us to narrow down the range for the death of Agnes' husband Dave Beavers. Dave died, then between 1915 and 1919.
The 1930 census also reports her as born in Texas.
