Notes

  • The family spells the name Noble, rather than Nobles, but the nameappears both ways in various records.  Both the 1900 and 1910 censuseshave it spelled Nobles.  Later censuses have it as Noble.

Note that Elizabeth was born in England as were both her parents.  Themarriage information indicates that W E and Elizabeth married about1884.  Albert R matches Richard A in 1900.  The age of Benjamin is aproblem, since he is reported to be 11, but was not listed in the 1900census.  He had to be born after 1900, since he is reported in everylater census, but not in 1900.  His age varies as do many in that era.

In this census, the Noble family is living next door to Chester andLaduskey Cunningham.  Up to this point (February 2011) I did not knowLaduskey's maiden name.  Laduskey's mother was born in England, buther father was born in Arkansas.  This suggests a relationship betweenLaduskey and Elizabeth.  Their entry in the 1900 census, which oddly Idid not find until September 2012, has Ladusky listed, as daughterDusky J Nobles, age 10.

The relationship is further confirmed when in the 1930 census we findthat Jessie Cunningham is living with Charley and Owamie Noble's home. Jessie is designated as Charley's niece.  Charley is W E andElizabeth's son.  Her age and the birth place of her parents makes itlikely that Laduskey is the daughter of Elizabeth and W E and thebrother of Charley.  This also, then, provides Laduskey's last name,Noble.

In the 1920 census, We learn that W E's first name is William, enteredas Will in the census record.  The names of the children aredifferent, but can be matched up fairly well.

Noble, Billie Son M W 9 AR AR England [b abt Dec 1910]
Noble, Esther Dau F W 7 AR AR England [b abt Jun 1912]

Some of these names are different than we wexpect.  The child matchingCharley in the 1910 census is named Mick here.  Carey appears with thename that looks like Duen.  The child that matches Morris has initialsthat appear to be E F.  How E F represents Morris (Maurice) Monroe, Icannot tell.

In 1920 living next door is an older son, A R, whose name appeared tobe Albert in the 1910 census.

In 1930, their son Benjamin is divorced and living in the household. The enumerator also reports that William's mother, as well asElizabeth's, was born in England.  All other reports indicate she wasborn in Arkansas or Tennessee.
