  The age of 11 months old would make birth about November 1849, going by the date of the actual census record.  A comment on family members in her mother's memorial on Find a Grave reports her birth date as January 1850, in which case she would have been only 9 months old at 1850 census time, and not 11 months as reported.  Mary Elizabeth and her sister Teresa (Thérèse) were baptised by the parish priest of St Peters Church, the one Catholic parish serving the whole area.
  
  St Peters was a rural congregation near current New Gascony or Moscow, south of the Arkansas River, upriver a good bit from the Post of Arkansas.  Mary Frances' mother Desirée Pinot Dumond is buried in this church's cemetery, as well as her grandmother Amelia Brinsbac Pinot and other relatives of the French community.
