Notes

  • The first public record I have seen of William Lucky Mullins is the 1880 census, where he is in the household of his parents at age 7.  Though born in Georgia, the family is living now in Bosque County, Texas.  From the age of William's two younger brothers and their birth states, we can see they moved to Texas between 1875 and 1877.

There is evidence that William Lucky Mullins married twice. But details are confused.  I have found some mixed information on a couple of Mullins genealogies that seem to mix info for Emma Tripp and Sudie B Mullins.  Mike Taylor reports the possible marriage of William to Emma Tripp, who was born abt 1871 and died in 1904.  One source Mike reports for this possibility is Inez Merrill, another Mullins researcher.  Another Mullins genealogy reports that Emma was the first wife of William, but reports no birth or death dates for her.

Glenda Moore's Mullins genealogy reports Sudie's maiden name as Sudie B Mullins, but provides no birth or death information.  Mike Taylor reports Sudie Tripp as a wife of William Lucky Mullins, and reports only Sudie's birth date as abt 1892.  I found two other genealogies that report only one wife for William Lucky.   It appears that William's first wife was Emma Tripp, who died about 1904.  Mike Taylor, and a genealogy for Mullins-Gassaway reports that on 25 December 1910, he married a cousin, 17-year-old Sudie Bell Mullins, and they moved to New Mexico shortly afterwards, where he died in 1917.

See more explanatory details about the names and details of the two wives of William Lucky Mullins in the Notes for Sudie Bell Mullins.

The Mullins Family Genealogy by Gilda reports many details on both William Lucky and his wife Sudie Bell, including Sudie's parents.
