Notes

• Peter McSwain was born about 1858, according to his enumeration in the 1860 census as age 2.  His father's first wife Adalissa Hopper died before the 1860 census, and his father's wife in the census is Catherine Davis, Hugh's second wife.
  
  It appeared that Catherine was Peter's mother.  I have found no marriage record.  But some McSwain genealogies report that Peter was the last child of Hugh's first wife Adalissa Hopper.  Adalissa may have died in childbirth with Peter, or incidentally soon after his birth.
