Notes

  • I found Larkin Briscoe with his wife Elizabeth in the 1850 census on the same page with other Briscoes.  They are living in Kaufman County, Texas, next door to Larkin's parents, Isaac and Hester, and on the other side his brother Thomas Briscoe.  Larkin and Elizabeth are newlyweds living in the household of Susannah (Susania) Briscoe, who appears to be a widowed head of houshold, with her children.  Larkin is a Farmer, but not head of the household.

The Fain Family Genealogy, which reports a lot of good information on the Briscoe family, reports that Larkin died in Warwickshire, England!  This, however, conflicts with this other public information (reported below), reported to be based on family information, that he died in the American Civil War.  This genealogy includes no notes or stories to indicate where much of the information was obtained, though some censuses and similar documents are included.

Larkin's military service is recorded in the registrry of Civil War Soldiers.

Family records report the military service information for Larkin Briscoe.  It is reported that he died in a Civil War battle in Columbus, Mississippi.  The information is reported in the Civil War Soldiers Roster for Rockwall County, Texas, courtesy of The TXGenWeb Project.  This record reports service in only Company B.
