Married John 1st Earl Of Shrewsbury TALBOT

  • Maud received the title of Lady (Baroness) Strange of Blackmerethrough her stepmother Ankaret Le Strange, who had inherited the titlebecause of lack of male heirs.  Maud actually received the tile fromher stepbrother, Gilbert Talbot, a son from Ankaret's first marriageto Richard Talbot.  It is not clear how the title passed to Maud, rather than to one of Gilbert's Talbot brothers.  It is reported thatMaud's parents are Thomas Neville, 6th Lord Neville of Furnival, andhis first wife Joan Furnival.
