    Mrs. Gladys McSwain Kelly, 85, of Century Care, went to her heavenlyhome, which she had long awaited, on Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, atCleveland Regional Medical Center.

    Born in Cherokee County, S.C., Mrs. Kelly retired after more than 50years as a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of PutnamMemorial Baptist Church. She was a loving other and grandmother wholoved working in her yard, especially with her flowers, and the manyfriends she made during her years as a seamstress. She was a givingperson, always doing special things for friends and neighbors. Shealways wanted to help the ones less fortunate than she and did sowithout any recognition.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Kelly; parents, H. K.and Lizzie Fulton McSwain; brothers, Kinard, Wylie, Buster, Claude andRodgers; and sisters, Flora Evans and Emma Dixon.

    She is survived by a son, Buster Kelly and wife, Lynn, of Shelby;daughter, Sandy Blanton and husband, Jack, of Polkville; sisters,Clidie Kayler of Gastonia, Theo Dellinger of Cherryville and MaudeWhistnant and husband, Albert, of Polkville; three grandchildren,Melissa Kelly, Jason Mode and Casey Mode; and two great-grandchildren,Jacob Mode and Caleb Mode.
