Notes

  • William Bryant Green appears on the list of children of Daniel andMary Green in some old family genealogies.  But his marriage recordhas his name as Willem B Green Jr.  The names of his parents are noton the record.

In July 2015, a great great grandson of Daniel (or Daniel John) andMary Green wrote to give us some information and the name William wasnot in the list of their children from his family information.  But healso had three names that were not in the old lists we had, either. This source indicated the name of Meshack (spelled Mashack) as DanielGreen's father was reportedly found in an old Green family Bible.  Itseems the children of Daniel and Mary also came from the Bible, but itwas not directly stated.

This ource also reported on various children, ionclduing Fannie, whosehusband was WIlliam Bryant.  Further investigatoin and gooddocumentation now available from records on Fannie and Williamsuggests that this is the source of the cohnfusion of a son of Danielnamed William Bryant, compounded by the confusion with the William BGreen Jr, whose middle name has not bneen confirmed.  William waslikely listed as one of the recipients of $77 form Daniel Green'sestante in his role as husband of Daniel's daughter Frances (Fannie). Thus an early source thought the name William Bryant meant WilliamBryant Green, as another son of Daniel and Mary Green.

Note again that on William's marriage record his name is given asWilliam B Green, Jr, indicating his father was also William B Green. This and other clues and sources lead us to conclude that theidentification of William Bryant Green as a son of Daniel and Mary waswrong.  His father has not been identified in other records andsources.  But all evidence requires we rewemove him from any list ofchildren of Daniel John Green.

    William B Green 45 M Farmer $5000 Real Estate  $10,000 Personal  bornGeorgia [b abt 1815]
Martha E Green 18 (28?) F born Georgia [age has been overwritten, babt 1832?]
    John D Green 16 (?) M born Georgia [b abt 1844]
    Joseph E Green 2 M born Georgia [b abt 1858]

The age for Martha and the child John D have been overwritten.Martha's age appears to be possibly 21 overwritten with 18.  Ancestryinterprets her age as 28.  This appears to match the marriage recordcited above, Martha being the wife of William.  But even if she is 28,she is not the mother of John D at age 16.  His age, though alsooverwritten, appears to be 16.  These entries may also represent threechildren of William and a deceased spouse.  I have found no earliermarriage for William, to account for the mother of John D Greenreported in the 1860 census.
