Another source on the Carpenter family reports the name of Alexander's wife as Henrietta Jane Clayton. Henrietta was a cousin to Ann Sophronia Carpenter, who married Milus Davidson, whose mother was Margaret Clayton. But the name of his Davidson father is not known in the sources reported on Margaret and her children. Margaret is a widow in the census of 1850 in Lawrence County, Alabama. This Carpenter Connection, and the Clayton connection are indications that these Davidsons are part of the same family. Margaret and most of her children later move to Arkansas County, Arkansas, where we also find Thomas Jefferson Davis, grandson of Alexander (son of Thomas).
